After qualifying for INMO, it became difficult to get my doubts resolved through my teachers. At that time, I incidentally met Shastry Sir, and he was a godsend to me. He mentored and guided me, eventually moulding me into someone capable of not only qualifying for the Indian team but also securing a medal at the International Mathematics Olympiad 2017 with a global rank of 139. He resolved my doubts and provided unique and intuitive perspectives on results and theorems, and by emulating him I was able to widen the horizons of my mathematical abilities. I feel quite lucky to have been mentored by such a great professor and am extremely grateful to him for his guidance.

PSS sir has always made it a point such that any areas which might be confusing or lacking in detail, whether in assignment or core concepts in class, to reach out to his entire class and explain them thoroughly. His out-of-the-world credentials and experience really show in his teachings. He has a unique style of teaching which has proved to be highly effective as a lot of his students have performed exceptionally in JEE, Olympiads, and other competitive exams. He gave a collection of hard problems as homework regularly and discussed the solutions rigorously. He made us figure out multiple ways to solve problems and taught us time-saving shortcuts. He made me fall in love with math. Though he was only my math teacher, he gave me general advice regarding all subjects and made sure I wasn’t getting over-stressed. He made sure I was motivated and encouraged me to put in my hundred percent. He made sure I had a strong and fool-proof exam strategy. Ultimately, he is a very dedicated and passionate teacher.

P Srinivas Shastry sir is a great teacher and has helped my journey in mathematics. He explains concepts in a method easy to visualize and grasp by the students and ensures our understanding through innovative, thought-provoking questions. PSS sir has a cheerful way of teaching and his classes are fun to attend. He shows his intense love for the subject and makes us love it too. We not only learn Mathematics but learn to enjoy it as well. I thank him for my knowledge of mathematics and the time I spent under his tutelage.

PSS Sir was one of if not the best math teacher I had in my life. It was due to his teachings that I was able to score full in the maths section of my JEE Mains exam in September. He was able to explain complex concepts in a simple manner. I remember I struggled with permutations and combinations when I was in 11th grade. However, after he explained it to me in class, I can say without a doubt that it became much easier. He was also the one who encouraged the class to stay back for a self-study session after classes, which greatly improved my score in both mains and advanced. Even my seniors agree that, as a teacher, he is much better than the professors in IITs. His teachings are one of the main reasons that I was able to get AIR 928 in Mains and 351 in Advance.

Shastry sir was my mathematics teacher during my second year of JEE coaching in 2nd PUC (equivalent to 12th standard or +2). The mathematics portions for that year comprised of some of the most difficult topics in the JEE portions like calculus, and permutations and combinations. Most students struggle in these areas but we were like to have Sastry sir teaching us these topics. His style of teaching was liked by all types of students. The conceptual clarity which he imparted was second to none. While keeping it simple, he also ensured that the amount of rigour required, for even the best competitive exams, was maintained. His coaching was the primary reason behind my mathematics score of 118/122 in the JEE Advanced 2017, which is considered as one of the toughest undergraduate entrance exams in the world. Apart from his teaching, his guidance and mentorship also helped me in securing top ranks in competitive exams. Sastry sir is one of the best teachers I have ever had and it would not be too farfetched to claim that he is one of the best JEE mathematics teachers all over the country.

I am Chetan Reddy, presently a student of IIT Madras. I gave my JEE Advanced exam in 2019. Shastry sir taught me Mathematics for JEE in classes 11 and 12. Generally, math is perceived as a serious subject and the classes tend to become monotonous and serious for that reason. But, it was after attending Shastry sir’s class that I realised the amount of fun one can have even in a math class. He has this brilliant ability to deliver the content in a fun and elegant way. He used to give utmost importance to conceptual clarity over rote learning or memorising formulae. I believe this is the most important aspect when it comes to JEE. In fact, the problem-solving skills and the kind of thinking which I developed during those two years not only helped me in cracking JEE but is also helping me now. In addition to all this, he is really friendly and an amazing mentor. He used to give those constant motivational doses required to stay consistent. In a nutshell, I just want to mention that I was fortunate to be his student and I just can’t thank him enough.

Sastry sir was instrumental in enabling me to attain my true potential. His excellence can be aptly summed up in a sentence. Teach a person 1000 concepts, and he/she will crack JEE, but teach a person how to approach and understand a concept from scratch, and there will be no limit to what they can accomplish. Without Shastry sir, I wouldn’t come close to being the person I am today. The values he taught are ones that I will keep dear for my entire life. His unique ability to simplify the most complicated of concepts was one that I truly cherished. I am truly blessed to have had a teacher like him during the gruelling days of JEE.

Hello! I am Pranav, currently pursuing my undergrad studies at IITM

Shastry sir is one of the main reasons why I made it to an IIT. The way he taught Mathematics was spectacular. He made sure the toughest of the concepts were delivered to us in the simplest of ways; he has this wonderful gift any student would expect from a teacher. He always went a step beyond teaching mathematics. These extra things we learnt is what made sure we fell in love with the subject.

He is as good a mentor as a teacher, I’d say. Constant monitoring and morale-boosting sessions helped us sail through our JEE days. Most of what he taught us is still being used now; in my courses. He helped me get my fundamentals right, which is critical to get through IIT, not JEE alone. I can’t thank him enough for this.

I can go on and on, but I need to stop at some point. I hope Shastry sir is of as much help to you as he was to me. Thanks!

I have cleared JEE (Main) and (Advanced) 2020 and am about to join IIT Bombay in Aerospace.

In the journey of the JEE aspirant, Mathematics plays a crucial role in deciding the selection. I feel very lucky because I was taught Mathematics by one of the most experienced teachers, Prof. P Srinivasa Shastry.

Many JEE aspirants find many math concepts the most difficult during their preparation. But this was not the case with me because PSS sir made every concept that he taught crystal clear to its core. I would say he made mathematics interesting rather than difficult. He also helped us in our overall preparation for the exams by introducing self-study hours and proctored mock tests in our daily routine. Thanks to his effort, I was able to attain 86 out of 100 in September 2020, which led to a percentile of 99.74. Also, I was able to do very well in JEE (Advanced) exam which helped me secure a seat in IIT Bombay.

During my classes 11 and 12, I was taught by Shastry sir to help me clear JEE. Needless to say, his teaching played a large role in improving my math skill. His way of teaching combinatorics was out of the box, it deepened my understanding of it which eventually led me to crack INMO (I was top 7 in the country).

The learning atmosphere was free and interactive, the problems he gave were challenging and inspiring, constantly giving us new ideas which is very much required for JEE. I convey my whole hearted gratitude to him, learning under him expanded my skill set, understanding and love for mathematics.

I have secured an AIR of 2046 in JEE (Advanced) 2020. I will be pursuing Electrical Engineering at IIT Madras. I would love to thank Prof Srinivasa Shastry, who helped me to achieve my IIT dream. Sir was always there for us teaching us new concepts, new techniques and clearing our doubts. He always motivated us and pushed us till we gave our 100%. Sir made sure that we got umpteen practice papers and many hard questions, which further boosted our confidence to crack this examination. Sir taught maths with so much passion that we were mesmerised and even we started loving maths. Thank you, sir. Without you, my IIT dream would have remained a dream.
